The perfect morning — 30 minutes that change your day

Welcome back. I took a little bit of a break from writing. I was busy with my projects. Autumn is this moment of the year when I like to summarise the life improvements I made throughout this time, though most of us, prefer to do it at the end of the year.

Looking back over at my life, I see how many years it took me to grown up and understand that it is only up to me how my life is going to look like tomorrow. That’s why I was experimenting with my morning routine for the last year at least. I wanted to find the ideal time and activities to make my morning perfect, and treat it as a step to a better day.

Everything starts in predawn hours. I’m not a person who likes to sleep too much. I usually sleep for about 5–6 hours. I woke up at 5 am at the latest. It took me some time to switch from 6 am to 5 am, but now it becomes a perfect time for me. It is my time, alone, before I join the other people in their morning rush hours. It is also a time I use to prepare myself and be focused, full energy, relaxed and happy.

I start with making my coffee. When it’s ready, I start 10 minutes of meditation. I’m a beginner here, so I’ve found helpful using the Oak app on my phone, it’s easy to use, and well designed.

After meditation, I start my morning workout immediately. It takes another 25 minutes.

Every day I can see positive results. Recently, a few people on my gym told me that they are seeing how my body shape is changing.

While I do my workout, I like to listen to Monocle radio; it helps me to relax and concentrate better.

If the weather is good, I take a long walk to my office. It makes me usually 45 minutes. Part of this walk, about five minutes I spent on breathing exercises. I’m using the Hong-Sau method, which I found perfect for me.

I do intermittent fasting. It means that I eat only between 12pm-7pm, in the time window. The rest of the time I am allowing my body to rest from food. Also, I keep tracking my calories.

In the morning I’m not using a phone, or any other device to consume news, emails. I leave it for later; this allows me to maximise the time I can spend with myself and on things that make my day better.

A few months ago I switched off all notifications in my iPhone. I’ve noticed that it is handy actually if you don’t want to be bothered by looking at your phone every single time something buzz.

Why I share this all with you? I’ve found, that starting my day early morning, with yoga, workout and breathing session, is such a great way to feel better, have better concentration thought the day, and what’s most important, it helps me to be more aware of my body and health.

The most important thing I’ve learned is the consistency in what you do and what you eat. You have to keep doing it every single day until it’ll become your habit — but you have to be patient cause it will take time.

Please share your perfect morning routine with me, and I wonder how I can improve it, please let me know your thoughts and if you have any questions ask in the comments.
